Ingrid grew up in Southwest Harbor and has a long history with Harbor House. She graduated from Babson College with a BS in Management and a Minor in Entrepreneurial Studies. For 10 years she owned and operated several retail stores on Mount Desert Island and in Portland. In 2001, Ingrid and her husband, John, purchased Wilbur Yachts, a family-owned business that her parents started in 1972.
Ingrid served on the Board of Directors of Harbor House from 2003-2008, and was an active fundraising coordinator during that time. She has two children, Spencer and Sydney, who have participated in various Harbor House programs over the years. Her understanding of the needs of our communities and of Harbor House programming, coupled with her business experience, makes her a perfect fit for Harbor House.
Diana and her family have lived in Southwest Harbor for 16 years. Prior to moving to Maine, Diana worked as a Training Manager for Banana Republic and Abercrombie and Fitch. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and has a degree in Business Management. Diana and her husband, Eric, owned a business in Southwest Harbor for 9 years prior to her joining the Harbor House family. Her love of community and Harbor House attracted her to this position.
Suzanne has lived on MDI since 1990. Her three grown children were "Harbor House kids" and it was during that time when she fell in love with the organization. Suzanne is thrilled to have a position that enables her to foster her sense of community and love of people and children. Suzanne is the Assistant Cross Country Coach for Pemetic Elementary School and Head Coach of the MDI Middle School Track program, and can be found running or in the fitness center in her spare time. Suzanne resides in Southwest Harbor with her husband Jim and their daughter DeLaney.
Crystal began working for harbor house 15 years ago as an after school assistant. Over the years she has been a Kindercare teacher, summer camp counselor, interim summer camp director, and a coach for youth sports. Since 2005 she has thoroughly enjoyed learning, laughing, and growing as a preschool teacher at the children's center.
Crystal was thrilled to be asked to create and run the new after school program in 2011. With two children of her own, she understood the needs of working parents. She wanted to create a safe, fun, and enriching after school program that both parents and children would appreciate. Crystal and her husband, Cliff, feel very fortunate to be raising their children in such a wonderful community here in Southwest Harbor.
Mark was an elementary school educator for eight years. This experience serves him well as the director of our Underground Youth Center. Mark has served as a sports camp instructor as well as an Assistant Sports Director at the Bar Harbor YMCA and Crew Leader of the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. Mark is a native of Wisconsin and earned his BA degree from Earlhalm College in Richmond, Indiana.
Mark's love of the outdoors carries over into some of the programming at the youth center, particularly surrounding the OAK (Outdoor Adventure Kids) program. Mark and his family have lived in Southwest Harbor for the past seven years.
Mary Ellen began working at the Children's Center as a teacher's aide in 1992, after many years working with children as an assistant Little League coach, dean of a resident summer camp, and a Girl Scout leader, trainer and camp director. She was named Children's Center Director in 2002.
Mary Ellen is passionate in her belief that quality care and education in the earlier years are crucial to success in later life. She has shared her experience, skills and knowledge with others, teaching workshops in the design of childcare environments and creating natural outdoor play spaces. Her days at the Center provide plenty of opportunity to enjoy her other passion - photography. Mary Ellen lives in Southwest Harbor with her husband and a menagerie of pets.
Lisa has been a health and wellness professional for over 20 years. She is an AFAA certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Lisa also holds several other fitness certifications, including indoor cycling, step and Punk Rope. She strives to help people to find the fitness plan that matches their level, goals, and individual needs. In her spare time, Lisa is an avid runner, swimmer and biker; getting outdoors to enjoy Acadia National Park as much as she can.
